My name is Betel Lopez. My biggest accomplishment is to be the happy mom of two awesome teenagers. I am passionate about people and their happiness. For the past 25 years, I have dedicated my life to serving others through my work in beautiful organizations. I had the opportunity to serve as CEO of Emmanuel Ministries. Later I served as Vice-Chair of Children’s Hunger Relief Fund. It wasn’t just fundraising, or visiting projects, it was watching how lives were changed, that ignited my heart. I am so grateful to these organizations. They are the foundation and inspiration of my work today. I now serve as President and CEO of Abused Women’s Fund, because I am invested in the healing of women.
Why start Abused Women’s Fund??
For the past 20 years of my life I have had the opportunity, through very difficult work and life situations, to develop an inner strength that each day drives me. I refuse to be a victim, instead I promise myself each day I will share my medicine. I want to help other women get to where they can speak their mind, learn who they are, realize how strong they can be and show them they can rescue themselves!!!
After working with single moms for over 20 years in a children’s home and family emergency center in Juarez, Mexico, I know there is great need out there. Through out those years I heard many stories of abandonment, rejection, verbal abuse, emotional abuse, physical abuse, and sexual abuse. But I also saw women full of strength and a great desire to be better for their sakes and the sake of their children, all they needed was an opportunity, someone to believe in them. Out of my many hours of consoling, comforting and brainstorming to find solutions to their painful and complicated lives all I could think of was how can I better help these women??
Abused Women’s Fund is here for women who not only want to survive, but who want to change their lives and change their worlds. Women who are ready to discover how wonderful we are and how everything we have walked through got us here now.
Join me as women work on recovering the amazing peace and joy there is in being a story of survival and strength.
When a women realizes there’s more to their life story then the tragedy and suffering, when women realize their story also has a hero, and the hero is themselves, the world around them changes. Lets remember our story is much more than tears, our story is that of rebirth, transformation and great self -love.…
